About Hinton's Orchard

Hintons Orchard FarmHinton's Orchard & Farm Market is a family farm that focuses on fresh quality products and family fun. Jeremy & Joanna Hinton and their children Jacob and Joslyn work to grow quality produce and create a fun environment for other families to enjoy.

Jeremy and Joanna started in the orchard business in 2002 shortly after they married when they started leasing the Tommy Bennett Orchard.  In 2006, they purchased the current market location and renamed the business Hinton’s Orchard and Farm Market.   In 2006 & 2007, approximately 1100 apple and peach trees were planted on the new farm in order to replace aging fruit trees in the Bennett Orchard.  Both orchards are now in production with many new varieties of peaches and apples to enjoy!

Jeremy is a native of LaRue County and is part of the eighth generation of his family to farm here. After graduating from the UK College of Agriculture with a degree in Agriculture Education, Jeremy returned to the family farm. Joanna is a native of nearby Marion County and is also a graduate of UK, with a degree in History. The Hintons have transitioned away from a farm operation dependent on tobacco, grain, and hay into a focus on fruit and vegetable production.

The family is active with the Kentucky Farm Bureau, state and local cooperative extension activities, the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture Alumni Association, and many other civic organizations.  Jeremy is a past president of the Kentucky Young Farmer Association (YFA) and participated in the Philip Morris Agriculture Leadership Program sponsored by the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture.  Hinton’s Orchard & Farm Market is a member of the LaRue County Chamber of Commerce.

In December 2008, the Hintons were honored to be chosen as the runner up in Kentucky Farm Bureau’s Outstanding Young Farm Family contest.  This contest, which highlights farmers under 35 each year, is one of the highest honors for a young family in Kentucky agriculture.  As a part of the program, the Hintons were featured on Kentucky Farm Bureau’s “Bluegrass and Backroads,” a syndicated television program.  Click here to see a video that was presented during the award ceremony – Episode 608.

Both Jeremy and Joanna are passionate about providing you with the freshest and best quality products that you can find anywhere.  Purchasing local foods is good for you and good for the environment.  We are not an organic farm – growing large amounts of quality organic fruit in Kentucky’s humid climate is nearly impossible.  However, great care is always taken with all of the plants and trees to ensure that you have a local, safe food supply.
